Troubleshooting FCPX Colorist

Plugin Doesn't Work

This plugin requires Two Installers. Check your download folder to see if there is a "Step 1" Installer file, as well as a "Step 2”, “Installer 1” or “Installer 2”, or a "Double Click To Install" install package. The order does not matter in which these are run, but both must be completed for all the plugin controls to be accessible, and the plugin to properly function.

I don't see the open effect control window, how is this fixed?

Depending on which Colorist effect you are using, you will see a button located in the inspector that allows you to open the pop up window to control the effect. If you do not see this button, then try running both installers again and restarting FCPX.

I am getting a Red Screen with a Yellow Exclamation Point, how is this fixed?

This usually occurs due to either an Installation error, or its just that your FCPX version is out of date. You can upgrade, its simple and usually free in the Apple App Store. If your operating system is out of date, that may need to be updated first, in order to update the other relying software.

What version of Final Cut Pro X does this plugin require?

You will need to have at least version 10.2.1 of the FCPX software to run FCPX Colorist. Check your FCPX Software to make sure you meet the software version requirements.

I need to uninstall FCPX Colorist in order to perform a clean re-install, how do I remove it?

You need to locate the installed files in your directory. To do this, you must access your "Macintosh HD" folder. Once you are into that "Macintosh HD" folder, you double click on the "Library'' folder.   Once inside the "Library" Folder, double click the "Plug-Ins" Folder. Once inside the "Plug-Ins" folder, you will see an "FX Plug" Folder. Open that, and delete all the files. Once you've deleted those files, close FCPX.   Open the download folder for the Colorist Plug-in and run Step 1 of the installer, followed by Step 2. Make sure FCPX is not open when installing. Once the installation is complete, restart your computer. Open FCPX and it should be installed correctly and ready for use.
