ProDrop: Volume 6 Tutorial for Final Cut Pro X
Learn how to create and customize your very own Geometric Backgrounds with the ProDrop: Volume 6 Lesson.
STEP 1 - Preparing the Timeline
Let’s begin by locating ProDrop: Volume 6 in the Generators Library. There are numerous presets with different shapes in ProDrop: Volume 6 that you can choose from. For this example we will be using the Master Template Circles preset in the Masters Set Section. Drag the generator to your timeline. Select the generator and go to the Inspector Window.
STEP 2 - Blend Modes & Perspective
First start by selecting a lens dirt style. Next begin adjusting the shape perspective and blink amount slider. The Shape Perspective slider adjusts the size of your shapes. For example the more you move the slider to the left the more shapes you will see, While moving the slider to the right will scale up the shapes and you will see fewer of them. After adjusting the Shape Perspective and Blink amount you can now select from a variety of patterns. The pattern selection will determine how the blinking will animate through the preset. Once you have chosen your pattern animation continue on to the source color and background gradient.
STEP 3 - Source Color & Background Color
Click any of the colored squares on the bottom of the color bar. Once you have a colored square selected you can now change the color of the source. There are red, green, and blue sliders along with an opacity slider for each color option so you can get the exact color you want. Underneath you have an interpolation option and a location slider. The location slider will allow you to control the coverage of each color that is present on your shapes. Next is the Background Gradient. The Background Gradient has the same controls as the Source Color color bar except it has a few more controls. After adjusting the location slider you have the option of changing the type of your color between linear and radial. The Linear type will give you a line and the radial type will show a circle which the color generates from. Once you have selected a type you can choose where the color type starts and ends.
STEP 4 - Kaleidoscope Controls
Lastly you have the option of turning this preset into a Kaleidoscope by simply clicking the check box. The Kaleidoscope effect can be adjusted by using the on screen controls in the viewer window. Click and drag the control puck to position the Kaleidoscope To rotate the click and rotate the smaller pin Adjust the Kaleidoscope spread by clicking and rotating the taller pin.
Now for some final touches. In the Extrude settings start adjusting the back size, front brightness, and back brightness.
