Now, it’s time to set-up the our text.
Select the title layer in the timeline and go to the FCPX Inspector window.
Fill in the text fields with the two words or phrases that you want to flip between Then set the size, font and color of the text.
Finally, change the blend mode drop down to help integrate the text into the environment.
Step 3 - Animating the Text
Now, let’s animate our text to flip from one word to the next.
Place the playhead at the front of the title layer in the timeline. Then, use the on-screen controls to orient the text to where you want it to start.
Now, Place a key frame on the rotation parameters in the Inspector window.
Move the playhead to the end of the title layer.
Finally, use the on-screen controls and rotation parameters to spin your text around to its final orientation.
Since we have already applied a key frame to this parameter, it will auto key frame any changes we make to it.
Now, for some Final Touches.
This particular clip has a wide-angle lens on it. So we want to achieve the same wide angle feel for the text. Slide and adjust the angle of view slider a bit to the right.
This will help seamlessly integrate the text into the scene.
Now, for some Additional Information.
If you want a series of more than two words, you can place many ProFlip title layers side by side in the timeline. Then, you simply need to keyframe each title so that it begins at the same position and angle that the previous one ended.
