ProReveal Alpha Tutorial for Final Cut Pro

Learn how to use logo and title revealing tools with the ProReveal Alpha Lesson from Pixel Film Studios.

Step 1 - Preparing the Timeline

In this example, we will create a dynamic opener with a few simple steps. Let’s begin by locating ProReveal Alpha in the Generators library. Scrub through the presets to preview the animations.  ProReveal Alpha comes with presets with up to 10 drop zones.  But for this example, we’ll be using a 3 drop zone shuffle animation. Fill the drop zones provided. Next, tweak the position sliders under animation controls to change the starting position of the drop zones. If you want the speed up of the animation, lower the amount of the transition time and vice versa.

Step 2 - Alpha Controls

Now its time to create the alpha portion of the scene. Users can choose from a variety of animated drop zone or text presets for the alpha layer. In this example, we want to showcase a logo so we’ll pick a drop zone preset with a dollying animation and place it above our shuffling animation.  We’ll stagger the generators to offset the timing of each layer. Start by inserting a logo into the drop zone provided. Under the Camera Controls, we make make adjustments to the animation. We want the logo to start further back in space, so we’ll pull back the start position.  Next, we’ll use the transition time slider to speed up the logo animation.

Final Touches

Under animation controls, users can choose from three fade options, in, out, or no fade.  We want our logo to fade in, so we’ll choose the “in” option and adjust our fade timing slightly.
