Preparing The Timeline

Let’s begin by selecting our media from the FCPX media library. Then Locate ProHue in the FCPX Effects library. Browse through the ProHue presets Once you find the preset that works best for your project Click and drag the effect directly on top of your media. Select your media and go to the Inspector Window.

Effect Controls

Begin by adjusting the Lens Filter opacity which will control the intensity of the lens filter. After select from a variety of Lens Filters that range from a cool temperature to a warm temperature. Then go on to the lens filter fine tune which will adjust the contrast on your lens filter. Next we will go over the Vignette Effect controls. Start by adjusting the vignette opacity, size, and falloff. The falloff slider sets the amount of feathering applied to the border of the vignette. Moving the falloff slider to the right will soften the edge of your vignette, While moving the slider to the left will sharpen the edges of your vignette. After altering the falloff continue on by adjusting vignette center and vignette darken slider. Then finish off the Vignette Effect section by choosing a vignette color. Once you have made the final adjustments in the Vignette Effect section you will then move on to the Wash Effect section. Begin by adjusting the wash opacity. Then adjust he white wash and black wash. These sliders will control the intensity of the whites and blacks that are showing up in the wash effect. Next is the Tint Effect section. In this section you will be able to adjust the color tint amount and you can also choose a color tint for the top level of your adjustments.

Final Touches

Now for some final touches. There are two composite color levels that you can alter. Both levels have the same functions and controls. Let’s start with the first level. Begin by adjusting the opacity which will control the intensity of the changes you will be making. Then go on to selecting a blend mode. After you can choose whether you want to invert your changes. Underneath you can adjust the sharpen, Blur amount , Brightness and Gamma sliders. Next alter the tint color of your highlights, mid tones, and shadows. Finally adjust the hue, saturation, value, contrast and Pivot sliders. Once you have the Level 1 Composite Color set move on to  adjusting the Level 2 composite color section.
