Optimize FCPX Render Times
This page has a few methods on how you can improve your render times in FCPX.
Step 1 – Performance Tips for Final Cut Pro
In this video, we will walk through how to optimize your computer and editing to make sure your plugins are running as smoothly as possible.
Step 2 – Efficiency Tips for FCPX
In this video, we will show you how to make sure your FCPX is set up optimally to get the best performance from our plugins.
Rendering Speeds
Rendering speeds in Final Cut Pro depend almost entirely on your Graphics Card (GPU). If you have a newer computer with an Apple Silicon Chip (M1), you should be able to run a plugin if your Mac’s specifications meet the minimum memory requirements as listed on the product page. If your graphics card does not meet the minimum requirement, then Final Cut Pro may significantly slow down or may not work at all. This is especially the case for Macs that have only an integrated Intel graphics card (1536 MB = 1.5 GB) installed without a dedicated graphics card such as a Nvidia or AMD Radeon. Macs with the integrated Intel Graphics card were not designed to for heavy duty editing purposes as their computing power is very limited. Attempting to run Final Cut Pro plugins that exceed the specifications of your Mac may lead to issues such as artifacts, unexpected app behavior, crashes etc.
We highly recommend viewing the products’ minimum specification requirements before making a purchase so that the plugin will work as intended on your computer.
* Your computer’s age may also affect how efficiently Final Cut Pro and/or plugins runs. As computers get older they will gradually become less effective in handling program data. As unused files continue to accumulate on your machine over time your computer’s processing power may become jammed, making it slower. Bugs in the operating system, corrupted RAM data and the gradual degradation of hardware over time are all factors to consider when evaluating your computer’s performance.
