Step 2 - Customize Overlay Effect

Once you have your timeline setup, It’s now time to customize the look of your overlay effect. Select your media in the FCPX timeline and go to the Inspector window. First is the sample slider where you can choose from numerous frames that all have a different style to them. Next is the effect mode which allows you to choose how you want your overlay to blend onto your media. In your viewer window you can click and drag the inner circle allowing you to change your overlays position. Step 3 - Color Manipulation

Now we will change the color of our Bokeh under the Color Manipulation section in the Inspector Window. By clicking the drop down arrow next to “color” you are able to pick any color that best fits your style. You also have Red, Green, and Blue slider bars to really customize your look. For example moving the Green slider to the right will make your media look green, Sliding it to the left will change it to red. Use all three to find a perfect balance in the style you want. Brightness will affect how vibrant your colors will be on the overlay. The Chromatic Aberration slider affects the outside of the Bokeh showing a thin ring giving a spectrum of color.
