ProMagnify presets come with three self-animating texts that can be used as titles, descriptions, or indicators for the magnified subject. Achieve a kinetic effect by linking text to the magnifier with a simple click. For a static text effect, toggle off the link checkbox.

Preparing The Timeline

Let’s begin by selecting our media from the FCPX media library. Then Locate ProMagnify in the FCPX Titles library. Browse through the variety of magnifying shapes that ProMagnify offers. For this example we will be using the circle preset. Click and drag the preset directly over top of your media. Select the adjustment layer and go to the Inspector Window.

On-Screen Controls

Let’s start by adjusting the position and scale. You can make these adjustments in the inspector window or by using the on screen controls in the viewer window. Position the magnifier by clicking and dragging the center control puck in any direction. Scale the magnifier by clicking and dragging the outside of the circle. Once you have the position set for the magnifier move on down to the Magnifier Controls.

Magnifier Controls

First you will notice the magnification slider. This slider will control the intensity of the magnification. Underneath you can choose how the magnification circle will animate in and out. You can then select an circle outline color. After picking a color begin adjusting the width and opacity of the outline.

Background Controls

Next we will go over the Background Controls. You first have the option to link text next to the magnifier. If you do not want this option simply deselect the checkbox and delete the text in the viewer window. You will have to select the text first then delete it. After you can choose an animation for how the animates in. Then go on to selecting a tint color. Once you have a tint color selected begin adjusting the opacity and blur amount.

Final Touches

Now for some final touches. You have the option of having a drop shadow. If you do not want a drop shadow simply deselect the checkbox. When the drop shadow is still selected the rest of the controls will be functional. You will be able to the adjust color, opacity, blur, distance and angle of the drop shadow.
