Updating Pixel Film Products

We push updates regularly to our products. This help page will walk you through how to update your Pixel Products.

Your Account

If you are looking to update your product, you will simply need to open and log into the PFS App. Under the My Products section of the PFS App you will see all purchased plugins on your account where you can install or uninstall your products.

To uninstall a plugin simply click the three dot menu on an installed product and press uninstall. This will immediately remove the plugin from your Motion Templates folder. You can then reinstall at anytime while Final Cut Pro is closed to get the latest version of a plugin.

If you do not have the PFS App you can get it on the PFS App page using the button below.

About Updates

Often when plugins are updated, the system requirements are updated as well. The system requirements may also increase as updates must be built on the latest versions of the MacOS and Final Cut Pro in order to function properly in the latest versions. These system requirements are shown on each product page.

Before updating plugins, please make sure to view the updated system requirements listed on the product page as you may need to update your MacOS and Final Cut Pro to use the latest version of the plugin. If you are not able to use the latest version of the plugin, we do not recommend downloading it as we do not offer downloads for legacy versions of the software. Click here to learn more.

We also highly recommend finishing any projects you are working on before making any changes to your Mac OS, FCPX, or reinstalling/updating a plugin, as the new templates may have been updated and may not be compatible to what is currently in your project timeline. If a plugin is updated and works in the FCPX Library Browser, but does not work in the timeline, any work done with the plugin prior to the update may need to be redone if it is not appearing correctly in your project timeline.

While we understand that other third party applications may not be compatible with newer versions of Apple’s OS, our obligation is to make sure our software is compatible with the latest versions of Apple’s software. That means older versions of the OS and Final Cut Pro are not supported and an update will be needed for either the MacOS, Final Cut Pro version, or both in order to use the latest version of a plugin.

Updates to MacOS are free in your system preferences and updates to Final Cut Pro are free in the App Store.
