Using numerous contemporary films as examples, Pixel Film Studios applied several color processing methods to create ProMood.  This set of 55 color presets can be used to set the emotion of any scene. Simply scroll through the FCP Effects browser and find the color preset you like, and then drag and drop it on your clip.

Cross-Process Your Image in Final Cut Pro

Give your film a more photographic look by cross-processing the colors. With the cross process ‘Amount’ and ‘Method’ features included in ProMood,  you can make your footage look like it was taken with an analog Lomographic camera.

Preparing The Timeline

Let’s begin by selecting our media from the FCPX media library. Then Locate ProMood in the FCPX Effects library. Browse through the ProMood presets. Once you find the preset that works best for your project. Click and drag the effect directly on top of your media. Select your media and go to the Inspector Window.

Effect Controls

Start by adjusting the mood amount slider which will control the intensity of the preset chosen. After adjust the cross process amount slider and cross process method slider. The Cross process amount slider adds multiple layers of your image which you can alter the color of using the Cross process method slider. Adjusting the spot and omni slider blends the the layers together. Finally adjusting the softness slider will soften the layers you have adjusted previously.

Troubleshooting ProMood

How do I apply ProMood to a clip?

First select the clip you wish to effect in the timeline. Then scrub your cursor over the ProMood presets in the FCPX effects library to preview them in real time.

How do I customize the look of ProMood?

Once you have applied ProMood to a clip… Select the clip in the timeline. You will see a new set of parameters in the FCPX Inspector. Use these parameters to control the look of the ProMood effect.

How do I copy ProMood settings?

You can copy ProGrade settings from one clip to another. Select the effected clip in the timeline and press Cmd+Opt+C Then select the second clip and press Cmd+Opt+V
