How it's Used
Link Together Two Subjects
FCPX Line Tracker can be used to link two points in a scene together. Draw connections between two people, places and objects in a scene. Use text to describe the connection, or simply use a line to draw focus to the subjects.
Measure the Distance Between Subjects
Use the Ruler preset 1 to dynamically measure the distance between two subjects. The measurement value will adjust to the difference in size of the line over time. This preset is perfect for measuring how far away something is from a moving subject, or showing the distance gap between members of a race.
Measure Dimensions in a Moving Scene
Use the Ruler 2 preset to measure the dimensions of a subject in a scene with camera movement. The value of the ruler will not change as the line becomes larger or smaller. This is a great tool for measuring the length of buildings and landmarks in an aerial shot.
Enlarge Subjects with Magnification
Two of the 15 included point options in the FCPX Line Tracker feature magnification. You can increase the size of the area point area by adjusting the magnification slider. This is a great way to draw attention to subjects from a distance.
Use Multiple Lines Together
You can use multiple FCPX Line Tracker presets together to create compound movements. This is perfect for adding pathways to an aerial shot.
