AI Colorize comes as an effect template for Final Cut Pro, making it incredibly easy to use. Simply drag and drop the effect onto any black and white media in your timeline. Note: AI Colorize is primarily designed for colorizing photos. It is compatible with videos, but results may vary.

How do I install AI Colorize?

The plugin AI Colorize can only be installed through the PFS App.

The minimum version of the PFS App required to install this plugin is version 70. If you do not have the latest version please update the PFS App or redownload the PFS App from your account downloads.

Once you have the latest version, launch the PFS App and in the settings activate your device. You will get Activation Success message.

Once your device is activated navigate to the My Products section and install AI Colorize. Please make sure Final Cut Pro is closed during installation. Once it's done, reopen Final Cut Pro and AI Colorize will be installed into your Effects library.

What does the Delete Cached Media button do?

During analysis, Al Colorize generates image sequences of the original media before applying the effect. These sequences are stored in Al Colorize's Plugin Data folder and are automatically deleted every 3 days. Clicking this button manually deletes the stored media in the Rendered Media folder, helping to save space on your computer.

What is an Export Codec?

An export codec, short for "compression/decompression," is a software algorithm used to compress video files for storage or transmission and decompress them for playback or editing. It determines how data is compressed and stored in the video file, impacting factors such as file size, quality, and compatibility with playback devices or editing software.

HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) and H.264 are both video compression standards used to encode and compress video files. HEVC offers more efficient compression and higher quality at lower bitrates compared to H.264. Apple ProRes 422, developed by Apple Inc., is a video codec commonly used in professional video production workflows for its high-quality compression and ability to maintain image quality while keeping file sizes manageable.

Why is my colorized video flickering colors?

Al Colorize employs an Al model primarily designed for colorizing photos, but can also be used for video. However when applied to video, there is a chance your export will contain inconsistent colors due to different readings for individual frames.

Why does my colorized image contain strange color artifacts?

Al Colorize can be sensitive to noise. It is recommended to remove noise from the image before applying the effect to get better results.

Why are the buttons missing from the Inspector window?

Occasionally the buttons on your plugin may be missing due to a Final Cut Pro fxplug4 bug. All you have to do is click on another layer in the timeline and then re-select the clip that AI Clarity is applied to. The buttons should then return.
