Preparing The Timeline

Let’s begin by selecting our media from the FCPX media library. Then Locate ProParty in the FCPX Generators library. Browse through the ProParty presets. For this example we will be using the style 10 drop down confetti preset. Click and drag the effect directly over your media. Select the generator and go to the Inspector Window.

Effect Controls

First let’s start by adjusting the color of the confetti. After you can control the saturation, brightness, color tint, and tint intensity. Next you can adjust the Emitter width. The Emitter width determines how far apart the confetti will be distributed. Continue on by adjusting the confetti scale and confetti birth rate sliders. The confetti birth rate slider controls how much confetti comes from the emitter every second. Underneath is the Assortment Generator which randomizes how the confetti will fall. Lastly is the Viewpoint settings where you can adjust the angle of view slider. The angle of view slider determines the maximum view a camera is capable of 'seeing' through a lens. For example moving the slider to the left will take away depth of the confetti. Moving the slider to the right will add depth to the confetti.
